Hi We are looking to introduce a Payroll and HR system on a managed service basis. We employ 80 employees and currently just use a payroll system, which is not meeting our needs. Can anyone recommend a good provider which is UK based and where you get direct contact with a payroll specialist? We also want the system to allow employees to be able to book holidays. Thanking you in advance. Sarah

Two weeks ago, at the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference in Milton Keynes, I delivered a talk on “How to Creatively Market Your Technical Product". Tying in with my topic, I started off by asking the audience members to indicate who of them are on LinkedIn. Out of about 100 people in the audience, just under 50% raised their hands. When I asked this group who was active on LinkedIn on a regular basis half raised their hands. This means that only 25% of everybody in the room was truly utilising LinkedIn to its full potential, whether it was for recruitment, networking or business...

Hi, I'm currently looking at our offering to the workforce (hourly paid, factory operatives), I think we have a reasonable package and pay well, however I'm interested to know what other manufacturers in both ours and different sectors offer by way of benefits and standard T&C's, Also do you operate any special shift patterns or have found one shift pattern to offer an advantage over others? If possible can anybody send me anonymised benefit packages, T&C's, shift patterns etc. it would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance, Simon.

What sorts of benefits does your Company offer? I've read through the various posts on the forum regarding this topic, but was wondering if anyone does more than the standard (or statutory things such as pension & 5.6 weeks holidays). How did you determine what benefits you would offer? How often do you review your benefits package? Do you have different benefits for different employees? What is your 'best' benefit? In my previous Company, we had everything from birthday day off to 'pawternity leave,' so trying to get a bit of a benchmark of what's on offer elsewhere so I can...

Hi All, After February's HSE notice about the change in enforcement around Welding fumes (particularly metal welding) we completed some monitoring around our own welding activities. We have a series of small spot welders on site for used to join some of our metal discs together. There is no surface coatings on the metal and this is a short contact (less than a second) and is some where between 4-10 weld spots per disc. The monitoring came back with minimal heavy metal content from lab results, however as it was observed that slight fumes where released from the weld the report has...
