    Hi all, I was wondering if you or your businesses have any experience with charities within the Midlands area who have supported with corporate volunteering events? We are looking into an afternoon for 100+ employees to support local communities; for example outdoor based activities such as developing community gardens, parks, woodlands etc. Any ideas or contacts would be much appreciated. Many thanks Laura

    Hi all, I'm just getting some advice for a plastic injected models I would like to create. FYI - I am not an expert and far from it. Just getting advice at this stage. I have multiple models that are tile like models with a dimension of approximately 304mm x 304mm x 100*mm(max) (* range of 10mm - 100mm - this is variable, as the height of the model has contours and a sand like texture with rock formations and terrain sitting on the tiles). I'm also happy for the models to be hollow rather than a huge block of plastic. eg. 5mm thickness all the way around. My questions are;

    Hello everyone, this is my first posting, and I hope I'm not going to be judged as teaching grandmother how to suck eggs, but CE marking is a subject which captured my attention as a design engineer in the 90's when I ended up running a manufacturing facility in Lancashire before I made the decision to set up a test lab for independently evaluating electrical and electronic products that were similar to what we were manufacturing at that time. As a family business starting from scratch, we're now UKAS accredited thanks largely to my son and wife, and our company Cranage EMC & Safety in N....

    Hello everyone, I am looking for a solution to implement traceability in our production, maybe via barcode scanning. This solution should enable in the same time to provide the necessary work-instructions at the workstations and give the possibility to enter the results from quality controls for each sub assembly in order to standardize all processes. Another desired feature is to gain an overview about KPIs, either manual or best automated. We are manufacturing electric devices, so we have a lot of electric related tasks. Mainly PCB boards which have SMD components but also...

    Hello everyone, I was watching the TV last night and during the advert break I saw the new “Fire It Up” advert all about promoting apprentices to young people. I thought the advert was really cool with a very fresh modern approached and certainly challenged some stereotypes around the types of jobs available as an apprentice. Hopefully, some of you have seen it too, but those that have not you can watch below. What do you think of the advert? Do you think it will appeal to young people to encourage them to take up an apprenticeship? Share your view with the community below :) ...

This technology has been used by large enterprises / multi-national organisations to improve productivity. If you're a medium-sized (i.e. 50 - 249 employees) business and you're looking at what you can do to improve productivity, then is RPA / RDA one of the options you're considering? On the 15th of June Manufacturers, and their Agents, will have to fit vehicles with Smart Tachographs as per Annex C of EU016/799. As a type 2 converter, also with National Small Series Type Approval for some of our installations, does the Community know if there are any requirements or liability for us. My concern is that we could be in position where we have stock vehicles with a date of manufacture before the 15th of June, hence fitted without a SmartTachograph, which could be first registered, taxed, and sold (by us) into the UK market after the 15thof June. My assumption is...

According to a recent article by Cranfield University, finding dedicated skilled employees, producing a product that will bring the company a profit, and maintaining ethical standards is now more difficult than ever thanks to technology and skill shortages Despite all of the challenges they face, CEO/MD of manufacturing companies are still required to perform above average.
