    Hi Clair Hollick, I've worked in a couple of places where we have been given birthday leave. It's a nice little extra to have. Interested to hear what others think/offer? Amy

    Hi Jim Davison Thank you for getting back to me. Currently I have plans for a range of 20+. However, realistically I'll have an initial range of 10 to start with and looking to mass-produce this range. The surface texture will mostly be fine sand with rocky and stone like textures for cliff edges and out crop areas etc... The material I would like to create these tiles would be plastic. I think the way forward would be to plastic inject after looking at other methods. Although I'm not sure what the best type of plastic to use is, or what the range is.

    Customs intermediaries and traders completing customs declarations can now apply for grants to support training and IT under an £8 million investment from government. As part of this investment, £5 million in funding is now available to help businesses, based in, or with a branch in, the UK to meet the costs of employee training and IT improvements. Businesses who will benefit from the funding are encouraged to apply early. Applications will close on 5 April 2019, or earlier once all the funding is allocated. Businesses can apply for one or both grants: There is £2 million available...

    Hi Rob Lainchbury, Sounds like an interesting project - my son enjoys making models with figures, landscapes and buildings.To help me find some answers to your questions can I ask you to clarify a couple of points please. How many of each of these "tiles" are you looking to produce? What sort of surface detail do you need to reproduce? Do you know what material you are looking to use?

    We are heavily involved in CE marking for our products and currently we are considering the options of maintaining the CE mark, which means us having an importer in the EU. Around 25% of our product is sold directly in the EU. I am not sure who in the world is going to recognise UKCA? This will take a long time to gain full acceptance. If anything we would consider this to be an 'and' not an 'or'. In a lot of cases we would not have a spare space for dual marking.

    Does your business receive an Horizon2020 grant? UKRI needs you to register onto their portal In September 2018, UKRI launched a portal as its first step towards supporting the continuity of funding for UK organisations which have been awarded grants from Horizon 2020. Grant recipients are asked to input basic information about their awards into the portal. This will ensure that UKRI can keep UK researchers and businesses informed of the next steps if the government needs to underwrite Horizon 2020 payments. Since its launch in September 2018, UKRI has had a steady stream of...

    Hi all, I'm just getting some advice for a plastic injected models I would like to create. FYI - I am not an expert and far from it. Just getting advice at this stage. I have multiple models that are tile like models with a dimension of approximately 304mm x 304mm x 100*mm(max) (* range of 10mm - 100mm - this is variable, as the height of the model has contours and a sand like texture with rock formations and terrain sitting on the tiles). I'm also happy for the models to be hollow rather than a huge block of plastic. eg. 5mm thickness all the way around. My questions are;

    Protolabs has kicked off 2019 with the introduction of detailed measurement and inspection reporting, the first part of the company’s in-house secondary services offering across Europe, and in addition to their standard quality control process. The turnaround times for each process varies and is dependent on factors such as part complexity and quantity. As part of their standard process, Protolabs undertake X, Y, Z measurements at the start of the production run as well as at final inspection. The additional measurement and inspection services complement the standard process to meet...
